Sri Magudeswarar Temple - Thiruppandi Kodumudi (Kodumudi),Erode,Tamil Nadu(276 Shiva Sthalangal)

The Kodumudi Magudeswarar Temple is a huge Hindu temple that is dedicated to Shiva in Kongu nadu district of Erode, Tamil Nadu , India. This is Kongu ‘s sixth temple, the area praised in the hymns to Thevaram. It lies at the banks of the Kaveri River. To this temple is associated the sage Agastya.

This is one of Kongu Nadu’s 276 Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalams, and 6th Shiva Sthalam.

The name of Lord Mahavishnu here is Pallikonda Perumal, and Veeranarayana Perumal. The mythological meaning behind this assumption of the temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma is that they are believed to worship Lord Shiva.

It is also said that there was not enough development in one of the Pandya Prince’s fingers. After taking a dip in the river the King prayed to this Lord and his son’s fingers soon grew to normal size. The King designed the three main towers (Gopurams) to display his gratitude, and restored this temple. This place is also named Pandikkodumudi, because of its connexion with the Pandya kingdom.
