Kanchipuram Kamatchi Amman Temple

The only Shakti temple centered on all the Shiva temples in Kanchipuram is the Kamatchi Amman Temple, as there are no separate temples to the Goddess elsewhere like this. The temple was consecrated by Adi Shankara in the 8th century. For those who definitely look at Kamatchi’s bright face, it can feel like the goddess’s eyes are blinking. Festivities are held in the month of February every year. Of these, the election festival and the Teppakula festival are the most special. The most popular are Navratri, Audi and Ippasi Poosam, Sankara Jayanti and the spring festival held in the month of Vaikasi. Also special prayers are made every Friday….
