Guhyeshwari Temple

The name of the temple is derived from the Sanskrit words Kuya (secret) and Eswari (goddess). The name of the 707th Goddess is mentioned in the Lalita Sahasranama as ‘Kuhayarupini’, which means that the form of the Goddess is beyond human opinion, which is a mystery. Another argument is that this is the secret 16th letter of the Shodashi mantra.
This is the place where Kuheshwari is believed to have fallen to the knees of a Shakti Peeta and Devi conspiracy. Here the goddess is worshiped as Mahamaya or Mahashira and Shiva as Kabali.
