Pasupatheeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated at Kallar Pasupathi Koil in Papanasam Taluk, Tamilnadu district of Thanjavur.
Old and temple on the banks of the Kudamurutti River, the Cauvery River distributor.

This is one of the Mada Temples founded by King Kochenganan of Chola who founded seventy other temples of this type. The Temple was destroyed by Malik Kafur and Arcot Nawabs because of the Cauvery floods and the invasion.

There are fragments of Chola-style inscriptions, Chola Style Architecture and Jyeshta Devi Idol’s presence shows that this temple belonged to the Chola Era.

The Temple has three tiered, single prakaram Rajagopuram. Sage Markandeya’s Life History, Kannappa Nayanar ‘s Story, Lord Shiva ‘s eight hands with arms are beautifully depicted in the Rajagopuram stucco idols.
