Kuranganilmuttam Shivastalam is at Thondai Nadu the 6th of 32 Thevara Sthalams. Thirugnanasambanthar has sung hymns of this temple in the praise of Lord Shiva. The temple is located on Palaru River’s southern side, and is believed to have been founded by Pallava King Mahendra Varman in 637 CE.
It is possible to see in the corridors the idols and shrines of Lords Vinayakar, Murugan with his consorts, Kasi Viswanathar and Vishalakshi, Durgai, Chandikeswarar, Mahavishnu, Brahma, Dakshinamurthy, Sapthamathars, Suryan, Navagraham, Bairavar, Nalwars. There are also separate idols for Saint Thirugnanasambanthar and for Saint Sekkizhar.
It is believed that devotees are relieved of sins by worshipping Lord Shiva, and are blessed with knowledge and wisdom.
