Tiruchirapalli is situated 325 km from the capital of the state, Chennai. This was referred to under British rule as Trichnopoly. It’s named Tiruchi by the locals. This city, on the banks of the River Cauvery, is the Tiruchi District’s headquarters and the fourth largest city in the state.
