The Kallanai Dam, located just 15 km from Tiruchirapalli, is constructed across the flowing Kaveri River. Also known as Grand Anicut, not only because it is important to the lives of thousands of households around it, but also because of its unrivalled scenic beauty, the enormous dam is legendary. Most of the places to visit in Shirdi are Sai Baba related, and here is a glimpse of some of the most popular tourist places in Shirdi. The Sai Baba Temple, which is also known as the Samadhi Mandir as it has the tomb of Sai Baba within it, is the most significant temple in Shirdi. The other important temple is the Khandoba Mandir in this city.

Shirdi is commonly known as Sai Baba's resting place-the great saint of the late 19th century. Sai Baba's ardent devotees visit Shirdi all year round from all corners of India.

Shirdi also has its own railway station-Shirdi Sainagar or Hyderabadis can enter Manmad station, about 87 km from Shirdi, and a taxi can be taken from there. There are a number of private buses running on a regular basis from Hyderabad to Shirdi.

There are a variety of tourist attractions in Shirdi, mainly linked to Sai Baba 's life. The main attraction here is the Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir, located in the heart of the city. The temple of Sai Baba houses Sai Baba's samadhi, made of white marble with railings around it beautifully embellished with ornamental decorations.

Other attractions such as Gurusthan, the place where Sai Baba was first seen; Dwarkamai, Sai Baba 's home for 60 years, which also houses Dhuni, the sacred fire; Chavadi, the place where Sai Baba used to sleep every alternate night; Lendi Bagh, the garden where Sai Baba used to go for a stroll, must be visited by Sai Baba's devotees.

Besides these, there are other destinations that tourists can visit here, such as Trimbakeshwar, Shani Shingnapur, Ajanta and Ellora caves, situated within 150 km of Shirdi.

Renuka Lake is not only an idyllic holiday destination, but also a revered pilgrim

centre, surrounded by lush forest hosting a variety of animal and bird life. Mythology has it that the Parshuram Tal was formed to mark the immortality of Renuka, the wife of 'Rishi Jamdagni', which appears shaped in the profile of a sleeping lady.

Rishi Jamdagni, displeased with his wife Renuka, is believed to have told his son Parshuram to behead her. The son obeyed the wishes of his father. The Rishi, satisfied with Parshuram 's devotion, gave his son a wish, and Parshuram called for his mother to be returned to life.

Mini Zoo: There is a representative array of local fauna in the small zoological park on the banks of Renuka Lake.

Parashurama Tal and the temple of Renuka:

This wide pool is considered to embrace Lord Parashurama, who wished to spend all eternity at the feet of his mother, at the base of Renuka temple. The original temple of Renukji is here, allegedly constructed overnight by an occupying force of the Gurkhas in the early 19th century. Every year, both mother and son are reunited at a festive fair in November.

The personification of the planet Saturn is Shanidev. In Hindu astrology, there are nine main celestial planets called Navagraha. Shani is the seventh planet and is thought to have a profound impact on the life of a human. The names Shaneesvara, Shanaiscarya and Shani Bhagavan are also familiar to him.

Shani is the son of Surya, the Hindu Sun God, and Chayya, according to legend. Thus, he is also referred to as Raviputra or Chayyaputra. He is Yama's elder brother, the God of death. It is said that in the present lifetime, Shanidev is assigned to give the outcomes of one's actions and Yama grants the outcomes of one's actions after death.
