The temples on Parvati hill are Pune ‘s oldest heritage structures and are reminiscent of the dynasty of Peshwa. PeshwaBalajiBajiRao is thought to have used this location to watch the defeat of the British at the Battle of Kirkee. Situated on this hill is the ParvatiMandir, dedicated to the goddess Parvati. According to tradition, a third Peshwa founded the temple.

The dam was built in 1927 AD, but recently there has been the commercialization of the site. At the Bhira Hydroelectric Plant, operated by Tata Power, the water from Mulshi Dam is used to produce electricity. One of the most powerful electricity generation plants in Maharashtra is Mulshi Dam. It is also the source that provides  Mumbai with the most electric power.
