Chennai to shirdi Route:

  • History of Shirdi Shri Sai Baba Temple:

The Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Temple is a holy place dedicated to Shri Sai Baba in Shirdi, Maharashtra in India, who is considered one of the greatest saints to have been born in India. Sai Baba is believed to have been endowed with unparalleled powers, and he is worshipped in the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Temple as God incarnate.

The temple complex is situated in the heart of Shirdi Village and is spread over a total area of around 200 square metres. It is an important centre for devotees from all over the world and is visited on a regular basis by 25,000 devotees. The number rises to 1,00,000 devotees daily at festivals and on some special occasions.

There are also lodging facilities for devotees who visit the temple from far away locations. What makes Shirdi an important religious place is the fact that it was here that Sai Baba made his appearance as a young boy and throughout his life he stayed here to support people and improve their lives.

Samadhi Mandir is owned and designed by a millionaire from Nagpur who was an ardent Sai Baba devotee. The devotee decided to instal Lord Murlidhar’s idol and so Sai baba proclaimed himself to be one.The temple is beautifully built of white marble, railed among two massive pillars by eye-catching ornaments.

Bhimashankar is a famous temple town, some 100 km from Pune and 223 km from Mumbai. It is among the twelve traditional Lord Shiva shrines in India called ‘Jyotilingam.’Bhimashankar is located in Bhorgiri village, in the Sahyadri range ghat area. Located at an altitude of about 3,250 feet, Bhimashankar is surrounded by hills and protected by dense green rainforests.

Legend has it that the name Bhimashankar derived from the Bhima river that evaporated as a result of the war between Lord Shiva and the Tripurasura demon. Because of the jyotirlinga it is considered one of the holiest places in India. Also Bhimashankar is a popular trekking destination. One of the Jyotirlinga’s 12 temples, or ‘pillar of light.’ This is one of only 12 temples in India that Hindu’s can recognise. Shiva is believed to have manifested itself to 36 locations in India as a Jyotirlinga, 12 of significance. If you visit all 12 of these, it’s said in your past 7 lives that you’re cured of sins.

Ellora is the name given to a group of 6th and 9th century Hindu , Buddhist and Jain caves that were founded during the reigns of the Kalachuri, Rashtrakuta and Chalukya dynasties. Ellora’s site is situated about 30 kilometres northwest of Aurangabad, where the district headquarters is located.

Renuka Lake is the largest natural lake in Himachal with a circumference of 3214 m.

Renuka Sanctuary: Spread over 400 hectares of wood and grassland surrounding the holy and picturesque Renuka lake, despite its limited scale, this Wildlife Sanctuary harbours many species of deer such as Chital, Sambhar and Barking Deer. Also found here are the endangered Kaleej pheasant, and the more common Red Jungle fowl. The temple and the Lake Renuka draw visitors from far and close.

Shani Shingnapur is a small town, away from the city’s hustle and bustle. It is 1,637 feet elevated above sea level. This town at its outskirts is surrounded by green fields. Shani Shingnapur ‘s climate is listed as being temperate in nature. It faces regular weather all year round. The average amount of mercury reaches 36 ° C during the summer and drops to 14 ° C during the winter.
