Shirdi, one of India’s most holy cities, also known as Sainagar or the Land of Sai, is located in Maharashtra state. Considered the site where the saint Sai Baba lived until 1918, it houses the great Temple of Sai Baba. The temple is Sai Baba’s burial site, and is of great significance to devotees across the world.

Shirdi is a quaint little village in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, about 88 km away from Nashik. Today it has become a hustle and bustle hub for pilgrimages.Shirdi was the birthplace of the great 20th-century saint Sai Baba. Baba lived more than half a century in Shirdi, that is, he spent more than 50 years of his life transforming this insignificant little village.

Shirdi, India’s greatest spiritual saint ‘s house-Sai Baba, is one of the country’s most-visited pilgrimage centres. Once a small, undescribed village, Shirdi shot to fame when a young ascetic appeared here and began preaching to humans the principles of shraddha (devotion) and saburi (patience). The city today is woven literally around his life and all the places to visit in Shirdi are closely associated with saibaba.

The entire area is surrounded by small shops that allow people to buy souvenirs, idols, flowers, sweets and more from here. Shirdi is still full of tourists, which is why people are always waiting for their turns. If you don’t want to wait in line, you can select VIP darshan and visit the site without pause.

  • Mumbai:

Mumbai is a mega-city powered by influence, riches, glamour and glory that attracts people to make their dreams and aspirations come true. But it is also a city with deep historical links, beautiful British architecture, museums, beaches, places of worship and, above all, a real star galaxy where Bollywood reigns supreme.

Economic and educational growth was characteristic of Bombay in the 19th century. It became a stable foundation for the Indian independence movement during the early 20th century. The city was incorporated into the state of Bombay after India’s independence in 1947. In 1960, a new state of Maharashtra was established following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement with Bombay as the capital.

Mumbai represents India’s most cosmopolitan city. The town is very liberal, compared to the rest of the world. The people, popularly known as ‘Mumbaikers’ with a daily influx of immigrants from the rest of India, have shown remarkable tolerance towards other cultures, making it a true ethnic melting pot. In recent times, however, this resistance has often bowed to outside pressures.

There are three major seasons in Mumbai — Summer, Monsoon, and Winter (milder). Between November and February the best time to visit is during the winter. During the winter, when the atmosphere is nice, humidity is also less; the minimum temperature is 17 degrees centigrade, and the high is 30-31 degrees. Summer is with highs in the low to mid 30s from March to May.

The city's official name change, to Mumbai from Bombay happened when regional political party Shiv Sena came into power in 1995. The Shiv Sena saw Bombay as a legacy of British colonialism and wanted the city's name to reflect its Maratha heritage, hence renaming it to pay tribute to the goddess Mumbadevi.

It has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires among all cities in India. Mumbai is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings.
